    Special Abilities, Traits, Bloodlines and Implants


    Abilities which fall in between bloodlines and techniques with their power level and typically known as Special Abilities. Special Abilities are unique in the fact that they can have various passive effects that influence the story and potential of a character, allowing for a multitude of combinations that allow for varying and unique effects, to some Special Abilities are the bread and butter of storytelling and character growth. Special abilities typically come in a variety of flavors, known as stages to the masses. These stages are what govern how many powers a special ability can have.

    Typically special abilities will be put into two different categories, single stage, and multi-stage, each with their own restrictions and guidelines. Typically Single stages allow for 1-3 powers within them and are more focused on a single concept, while Multi-Staged abilities focus upon a concept like single stages but add more to it, these additions are called sub-abilities and are the extra “stages” that are put underneath the ability as a whole. Typically there are anywhere from 1-3 sub-abilities labeled under a multi-staged special ability. Sub special abilities typically have 1-2 powers within them, and focus on the concept of the ability as a whole, but can each do a different aspect of it, allowing them to be well rounded.

    Now you might be thinking that having a bunch of multi-staged abilities is the way to go but there are catches to them. One with a dual bloodline, can’t utilize Multi-Staged abilities Sub Abilities, normally just being able to learn first “stage” of the ability. This in short means that only character with bloodlines and no bloodlines can learn multi-staged abilities, as their genetics allow them to be more diverse at the cost of having a clan or strong talent inclinations.

    Traits

    Well, after reading all about Special Abilities we can now discuss traits and their guidelines. Traits are basically what we have here on The Ninja RP to differentiate the different kinds of races, and perhaps even sub-races within those races. Every Race starts off with one, two or a few traits. These traits define the character in regards to their physique, their strength and more importantly, their racial differences. All Canon racial traits are automatically learned at creation if you meet the requirements. However, what is even more interesting is that each and every individual person across different types of races can have different traits. This shows sub-races or species under the same race. These traits are not meant to be like special abilities but more under the category that is for every human it could be possible or it can be accomplished through hard work, or simply a genius mentality.

    The limits of how many special abilities and traits a character can have will be listed below:

    Special Ability limits:
    • E Rank: 1 Special Ability, 1 Trait.
    • D-C Rank: 2 Special Abilities, 1 Trait.
    • B-A Rank: 3 Special Abilities, 2 Traits.
    • S-Rank: 4 Special Abilities, 2 Traits.


    Bloodlines

    Bloodlines: Bloodlines can be possessed by multiple characters. However, you don't need to have more than one character with a certain bloodline to have it approved. A character may only have two bloodlines. To obtain the second bloodline or Dual bloodline one must give up the following: All fighting styles and special techniques, two Special Abilities Slots or all elements and all traits except Race traits.

    Implants

    They are body parts implanted from another person, usually for the purpose of obtaining their special abilities. For example, if a special ability is a doujutsu, most of it is focused in the eyes of its owner. In this case, taking the eyes from that person and replacing your own with them will grant you abilities similar to those the original owner had.

    Implants: Implant special abilities must be made as customs based closely on the original ability, but with some alterations: possibly downsides (since the ability was obtained in an even more unnatural way than usual) and slightly different effects. Depending on the original set of special abilities, an implant may grant you a single, several or a whole set of special abilities. Implanted special abilities cannot, however, exceed the original in power or amount.

    Obtaining Implants: There is no OOC limit on how many implants one character may have, nor do they limit the special abilities a person is allowed, but they have to be obtained IC (in character) and only from other players' characters. However, IC limits still apply. You also need a medic ninja to perform the operation IC.
